Satan's Lies

Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

The following are some of the lies we hear repeated and what Scripture has to say about each subject.

1. There is no God. The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." [Psalms 14:1] The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. [Psalms 19:1] In the pride of his countenance the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, "There is no God." [Psalms 10:4]
2. The Bible is merely myths written by men. All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness [2 Tim. 3:16] First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, because no prophecy ever came by the impulse of man, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. [ 2 Peter 1:20-21]
3. I will get to heaven my way. Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me. [John 14:6] He who believes in the Son has eternal life; he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests upon him. [John 3:36]
4. I am not a sinner. I am a good person. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [ 1 John 1:8] Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins. [Eccl.7:20] For there is no distinction; since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God [Romans 3:22-23]
5. Jesus is just a man. No more and no less. Therefore God has highly exalted him {JESUS} and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. [Phil. 2:9-11] Thomas answered him {Jesus} , "My Lord and my God!" [John 20:28]
6. I don't need to go to church. Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. [Heb. 10:25] And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. [Acts 2:42]
7. I'll live my life as I please. I'll do things my way. There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death. [Proverbs 14:12] "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few. [Matt. 7:13-14]
8. I don't believe in heaven or hell. And just as it is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgment [Heb. 9:27] And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, by what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead in them, and all were judged by what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire; and if any one's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. [Revelation 20:12-15]
